Welcome
I am a Web Developer located in Rockville, Maryland. I specialize in designing robust, accessible, easy to use, clean, and functional websites. I mainly focus on developing in Drupal 9 currently.
Web development is my passion. I started back in 1997 with my first home page on Geocities. Since then I have advanced my knowledge in this exciting field, learning new ways to build and improve web sites and I love solving problems.
Why Me?
Developing a website is easy for me. Using my knowledge, I take a PSD wireframe and turn it into magic. I try to make the website to the pixel and exactly how the client wants it. I also develop for content management systems (CMS)'s such as Drupal and WordPress. I'm also part DBA (database administrator) as I am proficient in using MySQL, MSSQL, and Oracle.
When developing websites I always make sure my web applications are in accordance with xHTML and CSS Standards as well as WCAG 2.0 (Section 508 accessibility). I also use WAI-ARIA with all the websites I create to make them more accessible to people with disabilities. I test my sites using JAWS and NVDA.
Furthermore, I make sure all websites are compatible with the top web browsers such as Edge, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. I also specialize in fixing those pesky cross-browser issues one might experience in non-standards browsers such as Internet Explorer.
Many Hats
My skill set doesn't just involve web development. Throughout my career I've worked at a small business which has allowed me to "wear many hats." I'm a jack of many trades. I've done:
- Web Development
- Software Engineering
- Database Administration
- Proposal Writing and Review
- Accessibility (review and remediation)
- Process Writing and Review
- Quality Assurance (testing for QA and cross-browser compatability) and Remediation
Staying Current
I'm always up-to-date on the latest web technologies. I've also done a lot of mobile device (Responsive Web Design) development. As for accessibility, I make my websites accessible to users with any kind of disability. I'm also abreast on the latest in accessibility standards and am starting to study and implement websites using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
Process
Throughout my career I've always believed in process. My first development job I helped them reach CMMI level 2 twice. I helped with creating and documenting the processes. I also implemented their QMS (quality management system) for their ISO 9001 certification. I make sure every change I make to every file or every page modification is properly documented (currently using Jira).
